Unrivalled! The Mail is nominated for yet more reporting accolades by the judges at the British Journalism Awards
Less than a week after the Mail’s triumph at the London Press Club Awards, it is now the turn of judges at the British Journalism Awards to recognise our unrivalled reporting.
Scooping two of the Mail’s ten nominations, Liz Hull and Caroline Cheetham’s groundbreaking The Trial of Lucy Letby podcast forged ahead yet again. It added to its growing list of accolades with nods for the Innovation of the Year and the Crime and Legal Journalism awards.
Also recognised was Tom Kelly and Izzy Lyons’s agenda-setting undercover exposé of corrupt immigration lawyers. Their fearless reporting sent shockwaves throughout the legal establishment – and has earned them a nomination for Investigation of the Year.
In the prestigious Interviewer of the Year award, Kathryn Knight’s compelling and compassionate writing gained her a well-deserved nomination.

Ian Birrell’s courageous and campaigning journalism meanwhile was rightly tipped for two prizes: Comment Journalism and – along with the peerless Rebecca Hardy – Features Journalism.
Sian Boyle’s well-respected and long-standing expertise on China placed her on the shortlist for the Technology Journalism award, while our Chief Sports Writer Oliver Holt and Rob Draper are both in the running for the coveted Sports Journalism title.
Speaking at the announcement of the shortlist, Press Gazette Editor-in-Chief Dominic Ponsford said that the awards received more than 500 entries from all major news organisations, and so making it on to the list was a ‘huge achievement’.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on December 14.
