Royal fans hail Sarah Ferguson funeral spot as ‘new age’ for Royal Family

Fans of the Royal Family have heaped praise on the appearance of Sarah Ferguson and believe it is what the Queen "would have wanted".

Ferguson, the ex-wife of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, was spotted in all-black at the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II today (Monday, September 19).

Mourners and members of the public took to Twitter to heap praise onto the inclusion of the Duchess of York in the intimate funeral of the Queen, with one saying it was "really lovely" to see Ferguson at the funeral.

The inclusion of Ferguson appears to have won over the hearts of those on social media.

One Twitter user wrote: "I am really glad to see Sarah Ferguson at Westminster Abbey, she deserved to be there. The Queen always liked her."

Another user described the appearance of Ferguson as showing "that this really is a new age" for the Royal Family.

A third took to Twitter and referred to the relationship between the Duchess of York and the Queen, writing: "I just love that Sarah Ferguson is there and they were close."

Ferguson appeared at the funeral wearing a swallow broach as one member of the public commented that they were "so happy the Queen included her."

Ferguson was spotted just a few days ago inspecting tributes left for the Queen alongside ex-husband Prince Andrew.

The 62-year-old Duchess snapped a shot of the large floral tribute left out for the Queen, who she is said to have had a close and long-lasting friendship with even after her divorce from the Duke of York.

The Duke and Duchess of York had travelled from their Royal Lodge to Windsor Estate to inspect the tributes left by well-wishers of the family.

Ferguson had paid tribute to the Queen, describing her as "incredible" and that the long-reigning Monarch "leaves behind an extraordinary legacy".
