Prince William's unwanted comment about Meghan Markle is understood to have left Prince Harry furious.
The brothers' feud has been ongoing for several years now, and reached new heights after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from their royal duties and left the UK to start a new life in Montecito, California. Since then the duo have made a barrage of unflattering claims against the future King, as well as his wife, Kate Middleton, and other members of the Firm.
But it is thought the siblings' quarrel began years before the Sussexes' departure from the Royal Family, dubbed "Megxit". The pair's tumultuous relationship is believed to have taken a hit after William attempted to give Harry some well-intentioned advice shortly after he started dating his now-wife, according to royal experts Carolyn Durand and Omid Scobie.

The co-authors of the hit Meghan and Harry biography, Finding Freedom, claim William warned the younger royal to "take as much time as you need to get to know this girl". Durand and Scobie said the heir to the throne was happy for his sibling, but "just wanted to make sure that Harry wasn't blindsided by lust".
However, Harry allegedly took offence to two words in particular. Harry had a particular issue with William's use of the phrase "this girl", which he apparently found "snobbish and condescending".
It's far from the only time the pair have come to blows over the former Suits star. Harry even claimed in his 2023 memoir, Spare, his brother had once pushed him to the floor after an altercation about Meghan turned aggressive.
"It all happened so fast. So very fast," the book said.

"He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me."
The prince claimed William had called Meghan "difficult", "rude" and "abrasive" as the argument broke out. The Duke added the comments echoed "the press narrative" at the time.
And this claim in particular has reportedly left a sour taste in William and Kate's mouths. Tom Quinn, author of Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family, said staff members who worked for William and Kate said the pair were still furious about the accusation, the Daily Star previously reported.
"Privately there's a lot more anger than there is publicly, especially about the accusation there that William physically assaulted Harry. Apparently, they're furious about that," Quinn previously told the Daily Express US.
"William is really angry about the whole idea that these difficulties should be aired in public."
