Prince Harry has said he will "get competitive" with wife Meghan Markle just a day after paying his respects to the late Queen of England.

The Duke of Sussex made a brief trip to the UK yesterday (September 8) to mark a year since the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

He then jetted off to make an emotional speech at the Invictus Games event in Germany, where he joked he and Meghan were set for a more "competitive" experience.

His reference to an increase in competition comes as three new countries were confirmed to be part of the games, with Colombia, Israel and Nigeria all welcomed.

Speaking at the Games, Prince Harry said: "Now I'm not saying we play favourites in our home. But since my wife discovered that she is of Nigerian descent, it's likely to get a little more competitive this year."

Meghan is not currently at the games though will join the Duke later this week, bringing Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet with her, Hello reported.

His cheeky jab at the Duchess of Sussex comes just a day after Harry was seen paying his respects at the final resting place of Queen Elizabeth II.

Members of the Royal Family had privately paid their respects to Her Majesty at a service on Friday morning at the King George VI Memorial Chapel.

Prince Harry's appearance at the chapel follows on from a tribute made by the Duke, who credited the "incredible community" she had supported during a speech made at the WellChild awards.

He said: "As you know, I was unable to attend the awards last year as my grandmother passed away.

"As you also probably know, she would have been the first person to insist that I still come to be with you all instead of going to her, and that's precisely why I know exactly one year on that she is looking down on all of us tonight".

The Duke added his grandmother would be "happy we're together, continuing to spotlight such an incredible community."
