I'm a dog nutritionist – here are key ingredients to include in your pup’s lick bowl | The Sun

A DOG nutritionist has revealed the key ingredients that you should include in your pup's lick bowl.

An expert from The BK Pets, a business that advises on "modern pet parenting", took to Instagram to share the handy tips with animal lovers.

A lick bowl is a method of feeding your pooch by putting a mixture of soft foods or treats in a bowl, which the dog then licks up.

The repetitive licking motion is believed to be calming to dogs and help relieve stress and boredom while they enjoy a tasty snack.

BK's Bryce, who says in the social media clip that he is a "certified canine nutritionist", reviewed a video of someone preparing a lick bowl and gave his advice on the best way to do so.

The first step was coating the bottom and sides of the bowl in peanut butter as a base.

Bryce said: "Peanut butter is OK. I'd opt for maybe Greek yoghurt that's great for gut health."

He added: "Pumpkin is great for clearing up constipation and diarrhoea."

Other ingredients included banana and regular dog kibble.

The person in the original video then added some water to the bowl and froze it, much to Bryce's approval.
