I found a box of notebooks – they were FULL of chilling details spying on their neighbours’ every move | The Sun

A COLLECTOR found notebooks filled with a busybody's detailed records on their neighbours' every move for years.

The unknown author spied on the people next door and obsessively wrote notes on lights going on, cars coming and going, and "weird musky smells".

Photos of just a few of hundreds of pages were posted on a Reddit forum.

They contain carefully timed records such as: "I heard music around 6pm played at a reasonable volume."

Another evening at 7.30pm, the author "heard a feminine sounding cough".

Other records include: "6.03pm porch light on”, “6.40 red car in front of garage again”, and "10.10pm mighty car door slam".

The busybody is particular concerned with "odors", and on one occasion wrote: "9.14 weird musky smell? I’m not cooking…”

They were also apparently keen on eavesdropping, but struggled to make out what the neighbours were saying.

One record says: “4.31pm I think they are arguing but it’s hard to tell because it’s only the female voice I hear yelling.”

Another says: "5.19 stomped up stairs THIRD TIME TODAY”.

The copious notes span dates from at least 2012 to 2014, and appear to be in the US based on the spellings and date format.

The Redditor who posted them online wrote: "Found in random estate sale box.

The poster added: "They were obsessed with stomping and 'musty' smells and loud noises and cars parking where they shouldn’t.

"There are also entries that make it obvious that they would sneak over by the closest window when they were outside to try to hear exactly what they were saying and write it down.

"They weren’t very close or they were hard of hearing apparently though."
