Brit holiday hotspot now wild ‘Ibiza on steroids’ resort for boozy youngsters

A firm favourite holiday hotspot for British families has been taken over by boozed-up youngsters using the area as their very own party resort, say travellers.

Usual places of young adult madness like Ibiza and Benidorm are not the firm favourites they once were now that this Portuguese location is seeing party animals lap up the sun.

Boozy Brits are now headed to the Algarve in Portugal, a usually family-friendly holiday spot which sees Brit families set for a quiet time fighting for a spot beside the pool with unruly drinkers.

Unlimited drinks and scorching heats of 30C and beyond are more than enough to make it a hot spot for boozy Brits.

But the location, which has been frequented by Premier League football players and families hoping for a spot in the sun, is now being used more as a party pad for youngsters wanting cheap booze.

Locals are now attempting to kerb the rising crime rates, with the area seeing an increase in crime of 67%, according to The Sun.

It appears the Algarve, now referred to as "Ibiza on steroids" by its booze-loving holidaymakers, is the new hotspot for mad nights out.

One local, Wise, originally from London, said: "You can always find the Brits p***ing in the streets and in the fountains, so they can be d**kheads too."

Others are keen to use the area as their very own party pad as it makes for the perfect spot, blurring "beaches in the day" and "parties in the night" as Sofia, 19, says.

Another reveller, Abbi, 21, said: "It’s like a cheaper version of Ibiza.

"The drinks are so cheap here – beyond cheap – and the beach is on your doorstep, the bars are good, the nightlife is unreal, and the food is so good. It's got every cuisine you could ever think of."

But the area is rife with those who cannot quite handle their drink, with one police officer saying: "Some people don't know how to handle their drink, so sometimes they come here, drink a bit more and get a bit aggressive."
