Abbey Wood and Thamesmead stabbing: Mum collapses where her son, 16, was knifed to death – a mile from 2nd teen murder | The Sun

A HEARTBROKEN mum collapsed at the scene where her 16-year-old son was knifed to death – just a mile from where another teen was murdered.

The boys, both 16, were attacked at around the same time on Saturday evening in South East London.

Police have launched a murder investigation and have confirmed there is a link between the stabbings in Abbey Wood and Thamesmead.

Horrified witnesses of the Abbey Wood stabbing watched on as paramedics rushed to help the teen, but he could not be saved.

A Good Samaritan took in the devastated mum of the victim after seeing her collapse.

Resident Lee Frazer, 55, said: "My relative looked out and saw the mother who was so distressed being comforted by a neighbour last night.

''I looked out my window and saw the paramedics trying to save the kid.

''The kid was lying in the road and there were about three or four paramedics trying to do CPR and were pushing up and down on his chest."

Flowers were left at the scene and candles were laid out in the shape of ‘CD’, believed to be the boy’s initials.

One floral tribute at the scene read: ‘’Beautiful C, thank you for being amazing and making me smile when I worked at the link. I will never understand this world, rest in peace, Kim and family.’’

Crime scenes remained in place at both locations on Sunday morning with police officers guarding the cordoned-off areas.

Several teenage boys laid flowers by the cordon at the scene of the second stabbing in Titmuss Avenue, where a forensics tent could still be seen.

Teresa Cheshire, who lives on the road, told of her shock.

The 50-year-old said: "All I heard was the screaming and that was at 5.20pm.

"I'm frightened to let my kids outside now. It's just shocking."

Detective superintendent Richard McDonagh, speaking at the scene of one of the incidents, told reporters: "Homicide colleagues are investigating and are treating the two murders as linked.

KNIFE ATTACKS

"I can assure everybody affected by these murders that skilled detectives will work tirelessly to discover what happened and provide answers to the young victims and families.

"Officers are especially keen to hear from anyone who might have seen a dark-coloured SUV or 4X4 type with distinctive silver roof bars in the areas around Sewell Road or Titmuss Avenue in the days prior to the murders.

"We have already heard from a number of witnesses and I'm grateful to them."

Meanwhile, cops have launched a murder probe after a man in his 30s was killed in Richmond.

Cops dashed to the scene at about 4am on Saturday to reports of a fight and found a man suffering serious injuries.

Officers administered CPR prior to the arrival of paramedics before the man was taken to hospital, where he later died.

Last month a man, 32, was stabbed to death near London Waterloo station at night.
