Messaging service WhatsApp is reportedly down for hundreds of thousands of Brits as issues with the app flooded in.
Dozens took to social media platforms like Twitter to say the popular messaging service was down, with users left knocking their WiFi on and off in the hopes of fixing the connectivity issues.
But it appears WhatsApp is the problem, as a spike of 174,361 complaints were logged on DownDetector to signal the sudden inactivity with the service.

The messaging service is believed to have crashed earlier this evening, with thousands unable to send or receive messages on the Meta-owned app.
An outage is believed to have began at around 9pm today, quickly spreading as more and more Brits reported they were affected on both desktop and mobile devices.
Several issues were reported, from the messaging service freezing on load to being completely unable to send or receive messages from family and friends.
It appears the issues with the messaging service are spreading further than the United Kingdom, with outages reported by The Sun allegedly affecting Italy, Spain, France and Portugal also.
One person experiencing problems wrote on DownDetector: "I can't get WhatsApp to work on my PC, the app wont sync and I can't access the website through a browser."

An update has since been given to WhatsApp users, with an official statement released by WhatsApp to confirm they are aware of the issues.
They wrote: "We’re working quickly to resolve connectivity issues with WhatsApp and we’ll update you here as soon as possible."
Another user fumed: "Trying to login through the app and it shows error tried so many times still not possible."
One user said they were "satisfied" to see it was all WhatsApp users affected and not just their phone as they were unsure whether it was just their app playing up.
