Do me a solid, Zuckerberg! Trump formally asks Facebook to let him back ON for the good of ‘free speech’ as he builds 2024 run after being blocked over his Capitol Riot response
- Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign argued to Meta that his Facebook account should be reinstated imminently for the sake of ‘public discourse’
- He was given a two year suspension for conduct related to the Capitol riot
- Trump may also be gearing up for a return to Twitter, a Wednesday report said
Donald Trump is angling to win back his social media supremacy just 10 days before the first official event of his 2024 presidential campaign.
Once commanding social media accounts that were among the most watched on Facebook and Twitter, Trump was booted off of both platforms over his actions related to the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
He was reinstated to Twitter thanks to the results of a public user poll conducted by its new eccentric billionaire owner, Elon Musk.
And on Tuesday, Trump’s campaign sent a letter to Facebook’s parent company Meta asking for a sit-down to discuss bringing the ex-president back online for the sake of free speech, according to NBC News.
‘We believe that the ban on President Trump’s account on Facebook has dramatically distorted and inhibited the public discourse,’ the letter reportedly said.

The letter also argued that the ban was ‘interfering’ with a fair elections process.
Meta reportedly told NBC that it ‘will announce a decision in the coming weeks in line with the process we laid out.’
DailyMail.com has reached out to Trump’s spokesman to request a copy of the letter.
Trump has been accused of riling up his supporters on social media in the lead-up to the 2021 Capitol riot, when a mob who believed his claims the 2020 election was stolen attempted to violently disrupt the certification of President Joe Biden’s victory.
He was handed an indefinite ban on Facebook, which was criticized by the platform’s Oversight Board. It was limited to a two-year suspension in response.
His campaign reportedly petitioned Meta for a meeting to discuss Trump’s suspension from its social media platform Facebook (pictured: Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg)
Trump has yet to return to Twitter despite his account being reactivated for nearly two months.
His primary channel of communication has been Truth Social, an app made by his own company that was formed after he left office – Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG).
Trump regularly posts on the app; however, he stepped down from his role as chairman of TMTG less than a month before the company was subpoenaed by the SEC over an investigation into a ‘blank check company’ the firm was reportedly merging with.
He hasn’t said anything about returning, but a far larger audience awaits Trump on Twitter than what he enjoys on Truth Social.
As of Wednesday the ex-president’s Truth Social account shows 4.82 million followers – by far the most popular profile on the platform.
But he’s got more than 87 million followers waiting for him on Twitter.
His campaign’s petition to Facebook comes less than two weeks before his first 2024 event.

It’ll come more than two months after Trump announced he was running for the White House a third time in a lavish ceremony at his Mar-a-Lago mansion on November 15.
The event will take place in Columbia, South Carolina, according to the 2024 Trump. campaign.
He’s be there on January 28 to unveil his South Carolina leadership team, per the release.
Joining him will be South Carolina’s Republican Governor Henry McMaster and its senior senator, Lindsey Graham, a staunch Trump ally in Congress.
It’s a notable choice for his first official appearance on the 2024 campaign trail. It’s now the first state in Democrats’ 2024 primary cycle after the national party moved to overhaul its races.
