Subway passenger fighting for their life after terrifying stabbing

A subway passenger in Toronto has been left with life-threatening injuries after reportedly being stabbed following an argument.

Police say they were called at around 12.20pm on Thursday, July 6, to reports of an incident on a southbound Toronto Transit Commission train.

They say there was a stabbing in the Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue West area as the train headed towards the Elington Subway Station.

Two men reportedly became involved in an argument before the victim was stabbed “multiple times”, police say.

A video taken by an unknown eyewitness has been widely shared on social media. It shows a man in a white t-shirt and blue shorts involved in an altercation with a man dressed in all black.

What appears to be a knife can be seen in the second man’s hand. In one moment, it appears the man in white is stabbed, as blood leaks onto the back of his shirt.

The suspected victim can then be heard yelling for help as the other man appears to follow him.

A fellow passenger can be heard shouting: “He’s stabbing him up. He’s killing him.”

Police say the suspect fled the train once it arrived at the station. The victim was then taken to hospital.

Officers have now released a CCTV image of a man they wish to identify.

A Toronto Police Service spokesman said: “The suspect is described as being 25-30 years old, 5ft10in, thin build, with a shaved head and no facial hair. He was wearing a grey hooded sweater with “GAP” on the front, black pants, black shoes, carrying a green back pack.”
