The historic property on the banks of the River Thames has been used as a filming location for Midsomer Murders, Endeavour – the prequel to Inspector Morse – and a new series The Marlow Murder Club.
Before that the luxury home was owned by the Japanese government and used as an ambassadorial retreat until the outbreak of the Second World War.
The property, which comes with a boathouse, is located between Henley and Marlow in Oxfordshire.
It has not been on the market in almost half a century but is now up for sale with Savills.

It was originally built by the Wilkin family, of Tiptree jam-making fame, in 1903.

The boathouse was built in a castle style in 1929 and has direct river access.
During the Second World War it became a base for US officers and then the property was split in two in the 1950s, with number 2 Hambledon Place being bought by the current owners in 1976.
In 2004 the property appeared in a Midsomer Murders episode titled Dead in the Water. The storyline centred on the murder of a rowing club chairman during a regatta.
It will also be reused in a new as yet untitled episode of Midsomer Murders this year.
