Donald Trump turned 77 Wednesday – hours after his historic not guilty plea at a Miami court – and revealed that time was very much on his mind.
‘Some birthday,’ he grumbled at a brief stop in Miami’s Versailles Restaurant. ‘We got a government that’s out of control,’ Trump fumed, as diners sang happy birthday to the former president.
He got a second serenade after he flew to his Bedminster, New Jersey golf club, where he likes to spend the summer months. There were family members present – Trump acknowledged son Eric Trump for his own travails in the legal system.
‘What they did to my family – and that young man right there. He’s answered to more subpoenas than any human beings in the history of the world,’ Trump complained. ‘And you know what? … That means, literally thousands of them,’ Trump said.
A birthday song from a packed crowd at Bedminster appeared to brighten his mood a bit.
Former President Donald Trump turns 77 Wednesday. He planned to celebrate with family, although an aide didn’t know the whereabouts of former first lady Melania
‘Nice birthday isn’t it?’ he growled at one point. Then after taking in the song, he said: ‘Nice birthday. Wonderful birthday!’
Then he reflected on an interaction with family as he prepared to blow out the candles when he turned 77 Wednesday.
‘They’re saying happy birthday, I was just with Eric and Lara and the kids … Happy birthday grandpa. I say oh great – I just got charged, they want 400 years approximately, if you add it all up. A fake 400 years. Oh thank you darling, that’s so nice. A wonderful birthday. And we’re going to make it into the greatest birthday at all,’ Trump said.
It wasn’t entirely clear how Trump would mark the milestone, although Don Jr.’s wife Kimberly Guilfoyle was also spotted at Bedminster, as was Lara Trump, suggesting it would be a family affair.
One person who wasn’t seen was former first lady Melania Trump. She was last photographed walking in New York City days ago.
She wasn’t visible either at Trump’s Doral golf club in Miami or at Bedminster, although one network briefly mistook Trump aide Margo Martin for the former first lady.
Trump spokesman Steven Cheung said Wednesday he didn’t have information on where she would be. ‘I don’t know. I haven’t been briefed on that,’ he said.
A crowd sang ‘Happy Birthday’ in advance of Trump’s 77th milestone. ‘Nice birthday isn’t it?’ he grumbled, on a day he pleaded not guilty to a 37 count indictment
Kimberly Guilfoyle, fiancee of Donald Trump Jr., left, arrives before the former president speaks at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J., Tuesday, June 13, 2023
‘He’s answered to more subpoenas than any human beings in the history of the world,’ Trump said of son Eric. He is seen next to Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.)
Melania wasn’t spotted in Miami or New Jersey Tuesday. She was last seen publicly in New York City last week
