Snap of ‘waxwork’ Putin with Chechen warlord sparks further body double rumours

A snap of Russian President Vladimir Putin has sparked further body double rumours, with the alleged "waxwork" lookalike spotted with Ramzan Kadyrov.

The Chechen warlord posed with long-time ally and seemingly plastic president Putin, sparking some strange comparisons between the world leader and a Madame Tussauds model.

The Kremlin has repeatedly dismissed the use of body doubles despite Ukrainian officials repeating the accusation a number of times.

One Twitter user even likened the photo of the Russian leader and warlord Kadyrov to that of a "Mini-Me" sighting, referencing the comic clone of Austin Powers villain Dr Evil.

Putin reportedly met with the Chechen warlord yesterday (June 27). Anton Gerashchenko, Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, shared the image and wrote: "In the photo, Kadyrov is very large and overwhelms Putin, who looks very small and old.

"By the way, how many days did Kadyrov spend in quarantine before the meeting? Or is it not necessary for THIS Putin?"

"THIS Putin" a clear suggestion from the Ukrainian official that something fishy may be afoot.

In response, a Twitter user said: "Putin looks like he came out of a Madame Tussauds waxwork factory…" Another asked: "Photoshop????"

His appearance in recent months has been questioned by Ukrainian officials and members of the public, some of whom believe the Russian despot is using body doubles following rumours of his supposed ill-health – both claims denied vehemently by the Kremlin.

The Daily Star previously reported the claims of Ukraine's military intelligence officer Andriy Yusov, who is convinced the despot has fakes of himself wandering around.

Mr Yusov alleged: "His visits to the occupied south [in Ukraine] are a total fake, one organised rather poorly and hastily. There was a considerable difference both in 'Putin's' behaviour and his looks."

Ukrainian Major General Kyrylo Budanov said keen-eyed viewers can see the body doubles for themselves, with the key differences supposedly in the ears and chin.
