An Air Canada passenger claimed two of her fellow travelers were booted off the plane after refusing to sit in vomit-covered seats for a five-hour flight.
Susan Benson wrote on Facebook that three other passengers found their seats on the Las Vegas to Montreal flight were wet and showed clear traces of vomit.
A flight attendant explained an earlier passenger on the previous flight had been sick and staff tried as best as they could to clean up to allow other customers to sit.
Benson wrote: “There was a bit of a foul smell but we didn’t know at first what the problem was. Apparently, on the previous flight, someone had vomited in that area.”
She noted Air Canada staff had tried to cover the foul smell with perfume and coffee grinds but with little results.

Benson said the passengers assigned to the vomit-covered seats pointed out there were still clear signs of sick but the flight attendant was unable to move them to new seats.
She continued: “When the clearly upset passengers tried to explain to the flight attendant that the seat and seatbelt were wet and there was still visible vomit residue in their area, the flight attendant was very apologetic but explained that the flight was full and there was nothing they could do.”
The passenger said the impasse evolved into an argument with the flight attendant, who brought in a supervisor to once again inform them they would have to use the dirty seating.
Benson also noted some reluctance from the Air Canada staff to give her fellow passengers some blankets to cover the seats – prompting one of the pilots to join the discussion.

She continued: “The pilot came down the aisle and very calmly knelt down and told the two ladies that they had two choices.
“They could leave the plane on their own accord and organize flights on their own dime, or they would be escorted off the plane by security and placed on a no-fly list!”
Benson maintained the group didn’t raise their voice or was rude, but simply stated firmly they would not sit on vomit-covered seats. Two of the passengers were ultimately escorted off the flight.
She added: “I cannot stop thinking about these two ladies. They did nothing wrong. I am ashamed to be a Canadian and ashamed of Air Canada.”
Air Canada said they are currently investigating the incident: “We are reviewing this serious matter internally and have followed up with the customers directly as our operating procedures were not followed correctly in this instance.
“This includes apologizing to these customers, as they clearly did not receive the standard of care to which they were entitled, and addressing their concerns.”
