A sick teacher who did a runner to France with a 15-year-old girl has been sacked from his job after bosses were alerted to his sordid past.
Jeremy Forrest – who now goes under the name Jeremy Buonocore – has been booted out of his job at a bakery in Kent, where the 40-year-old was working following his release from prison. His contract has reportedly been torn up with immediate effect.
In a statement issued by Gilda Bakery, which is based in Bishopsbourne, near Canterbury, boss Jon Warren said: “We are aware of the news recently published in the press regarding one of our staff members.

“Since learning of the sensitive nature of this employee's history, it was mutually agreed that it was in the best interest of Gilda that his employment was terminated with immediate effect.
He added: “We are a close-knit team and this has come as a shock to the whole Gilda family.”
Forrest had worked as a chef while he was inside, and a biography on the bakery’s website had said: “[Forrest] is proudly a 5th generation baker, learning everything he knows from the experienced bakers that have passed down their tried and tested methods.
“He was promoted to Head Baker, thanks to his extraordinary passion for sourdough, hard work and commitment. He never stops learning about the process, care and attention that goes into making the perfect loaf.”
It added: “Jeremy loves his dogs and a sing-song – he plays guitar and lead vocals in a band that regularly gigs!”
The blurb said he’d spent most of his working life at a bakery, and didn’t mention his career as a maths teacher.
That career ended in shame when he fled the UK in 2012 with the 15-year-old girl. The pair were caught on CCTV in an embrace on a Dover-Calais ferry.
Married Forrest, who was 30 at the time, was nicked after a barman in France recognised him when he applied for a job, and a year later he was jailed at Lewes Crown Court for five-and-a-half years for his crimes after being convicted of child abduction and five counts of sexual activity with a child.
It’s believed that he has since remarried.
