Major update in Caroline Crouch murder as Brit’s dad says he ‘would be honoured’ to execute her killer | The Sun

CAROLINE Crouch’s dad has said he would be “honoured” to execute the Brit’s killer husband.

Babis Anagnostopoulos, 34, was jailed for life for murdering the 20-year-old mum in front of their baby at their home in Glyka Nera, Greece, in May 2021.

The twisted killer was sent to maximum security prison Korydallos after being found guilty of strangling Caroline to death and killing her beloved dog before faking a botched break-in.

Now the killer former helicopter pilot has launched a bid to get his 27-year sentence cut short.

Caroline’s Liverpool-born dad, David, who has remained in Greece, has described his former son-in-law's appeal as “absolutely despicable".

He described Anagnostopoulos as a “weaselly b******” and said he would willingly execute him.

“If the death penalty was still available here I would take it as an honour to be allowed to pull the handle to send him to oblivion,” he told the MailOnline.

“I hate him more than I have ever hated anything in my life. May he rot in hell.”

Anagnostopoulos played the role of grieving husband for 37 days, sobbing to reporters, visiting his wife's grave and even comforting Caroline's heartbroken parents.

But his sick cover-up was rumbled after police pulled together a stack of digital evidence that disrupted his timeline of the alleged botched robbery.

The retired engineer said that soon after the murder, he began to have suspicions about his son-in-law.

“It struck me that there was something odd about the whole affair, just little things that didn't make sense.

“Why would the robbers kill my daughter before leaving after they had taken all the valuables and money in the house.

“How did they know about the internal CCTV system and how were they sufficiently switched on to think about removing the memory card from the system.”

But Anagnostopoulos’ lawyer Alexandros Papaioannidis said his client wants a “fair trial” for the “mitigating circumstances of what happened at the time of Caroline's death are taken into account”.

“'Not a day goes by without my client regretting what happened but what he wants and what we want for him is justice.

“He does not deny what happened but we are asking for the sentence to be reduced.

“Every day he is in prison he is thinking about what happened and how much he hates himself, his only thoughts are for his daughter.

“He is not a narcissist and he accepts the court's decisions, since his conviction he has been a model prisoner in jail and helps out with other inmates and has been very well behaved and we will explain all this in court.”

It come after a shameless bid by Anagnostopoulos’s for custody of the couple’s daughter, Lydia, was rejected by a court in Athens.
