OPEN water swimmer Jule Harries wears wacky hats for charity dips — including a giant tin of Spam.

Jule, 58, of Beare Green, Surrey, said: “I love hats and swimming and thought it’d be fun to combine the two.”



Her creations also include a towering ice-cream cone and skeleton.

She has also worn wellington boots splashing through a puddle.

Jule has even designed a topless female torso hat.

She started her challenge 18 months ago in a lake near her home.

School science department worker Jule has raised more than £3,000 for Alzheimers Research UK and Surrey Young Carers.

One of her most flamboyant creations was a one-metre-tall flower hat to celebrate May Day.

This even received a like on social media from hat designer Philip Treacy.
