Harry and Meghan talk off limits for royals at Christmas or ‘it ends in tears’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not be discussed around the royal Christmas dinner table this year as "anything to do with it will end in tears", a royal writer claimed.

Journalist Adam Helliker said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have "spoiled enough" of the Royal Family's days so far, so the conversation will off limits this year.

The royals will instead continue to show a united front and ignore what is happening in the Sussex camp, including the release of their new Netflix documentary earlier this month.

Helliker told The Sun: "I think if it's one guarantee you can make, it's that the subject, which will not be raised, is anything to do with Harry and Meghan or Netflix.

"It's spoiled enough of their days so far, especially Charles and Camilla's early days as new King and Queen.

"It's almost a nuclear radioactive subject.

"Anything to do with it is going to end in tears really."

Harry and Meghan's new Netflix documentary contained a series of bombshell claims against the royals, including that Prince William had bullied his little brother out of the royal family and that King Charles III had lied to protect the royals – at the expense of the Sussexes.

Buckingham Palace has so far refused to comment on the sensational six-part series, simply titled Harry & Meghan, when it was released in two parts on December 8 and December 15.

Aside from dodging the topic of their estranged relatives in the US, it will be business as usual for the royals, who headed up to Sandringham earlier this week in preparation for Christmas Day.

They were seen on Christmas morning (December 25) greeting the gathered crowds at the Norfolk residence, where they spend the festive period every year.

Today will also see Charles make his first-ever Christmas Day speech as King, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September.

Helliker thinks that the King will reference both of his children in the historical address to the nation – but he expects the monarch will gloss over the grisly details of the recently released series.

He added: "I think [Charles will] make direct references to William and Harry [in his speech] as being part of the united family and they'll be brushing over the kind of awkward facts."
