Broadcaster Dan Walker has shared a laughing clip behind the scenes at Channel Five News as he returns to work after a bike crash.
The newsreader, 45, was left with a swollen face and a black eye after he was hit by a car while cycling in Sheffield last month.
In the post on Instagram, Walker introduced ‘makeup queen’ Ally as he praised her skills concealing his injuries.
He said: ‘Hello there, just getting ready to go on Five News and lots of questions about the eye makeup after getting a black eye and bit of a fat lip.
‘Well, let me introduce you to makeup queen Ally, in fact I have spotted on this video there’s a bit of shine up there [points to his forehead] if you could just sort that out. She’s very good!’

The former BBC Breakfast presenter first shared the news of the incident with a post on Instagram, showing him with cuts to his face and a bloodied nose.
He has since tracked his progress with a series of posts in the days that followed, before showing off his remarkable recovery in a backstage video from the Royal Television Society journalism awards last night.
Mr Walker then appeared on Jeremy Vine On 5 this morning to discuss the events of the last week-and-a-half, revealing he still has ‘lumps, bumps and grazes’ and a bruise on his right hip, and that his children have compared him to Wolverine, the Marvel character known for his healing powers.
He also revealed how watching back his old Strictly dances with on-screen partner Nadiya Bychkova had helped in his recovery.
‘Strictly, for me, was a mental strain in terms of learning those dance moves and trying to get to grips with it all,’ he said.
‘So I watched my old dances back and I paused them and I was testing my brain and my body to see if my brain remembers what the next move and if my body can remember it, and it did on every single occasion.
Mr Walker revealed that watching back his old Strictly dance routines with partner Nadiya Bychkova has helped him in his recovery
‘So I told Nadiya that she’s helped me with my recovery from this accident, so Strictly does help, even years after.’
He added: ‘I’m really thankful to the paramedics, the police, the people who looked after me in hospital.
‘I found out when I spoke to the police last week there were five people who when I came off the bike came onto the roundabout and sat with me for 25 minutes until the ambulance turned up.
‘I’ve got zero memory of any of that, I can’t remember anything from the moment I arrived at the roundabout.
‘But it’s things like that, the goodness of people in difficult situations so I’m very grateful to be here and doing the job I love, going back on telly later.’
Dan Walker is seen leaving the Hilton Hotel in Mayfair at 1.15am, and heading to Wyld Nightclub next door, with two female companions
In footage from a car ahead, Walker’s rear wheel can be seen catching the car’s front wing, flipping the Strictly Come Dancing star over
Mr Walker explained last week how he had left his house early to catch the train and was going over the roundabout instead of through a cycle lane because it was often covered in smashed glass.
The presenter said that he hadn’t been able to watch the footage of the accident but after speaking with police again, he is ‘confident’ he was not to blame for the accident.
Mr Walker has also asked to speak to the driver and said he hopes the matter can be resolved outside the courts.
He added: ‘I remember coming to the roundabout, I looked to my right, I saw a gap and I went.
‘The next thing I remember…it’s almost like an out of body experience. I saw myself looking at a black screen and then the screen expanded from a white circle in the middle of it and into that circle came the heads of two paramedics, a police officer and the driver who hit me with the car.
‘I have no recollection of what happened between those times. I know there’s a video doing the rounds but I’ve not watched it, I don’t want to watch it, I haven’t got any flashbacks and I don’t want any either.
‘I’m just very thankful I’m here, I’m ok, and the scans all says that my brain is fine, so if I can get out of it with a few lumps and bumps then I can say I’m very thankful.’
He has since tracked his progress with a series of posts in the days that followed, but in a video shared last night, he appeared to be back to full fitness already
The interview came just hours after he posted a video on Instagram revealing the extent of his recovery, crediting it to ‘the magic of make-up and prescription drugs’.
He said: ‘Hello everybody, Dan Walker here. We have just completed the Royal Television Society journalism awards.
‘We’ve got big chandeliers, have look at the stage, it’s quite snazzy. We’ve had all the big-hitters on there tonight, giving out the gongs, people are still enjoying a bit of a party.
‘I hope you’ve enjoyed our Instagram stories and thank you for having me.
‘The magic of make up and prescription drugs have enabled me to be on stage tonight.
‘I hope you’ve had a brilliant night, congratulations to all our winners and thank you for following us on Instagram stories, see you again soon.’
Last night, he also shared pre-show photos to his Instagram story of himself on the train down to London and later in a lift with his tuxedo in a bag.
‘Thanks @alliedrewmua for covering up the bruises for the @royaltelevisionsociety awards,’ he captioned the photo.
