A body of a missing two-year-old boy was found inside an alligator’s mouth after his mother was found stabbed to death in her apartment.
Taylen Mosley, of St. Petersburg, Florida, was reported missing on Thursday after his mother Pashun Jeffery, 20, was found dead in her Lincoln Shores apartment from stab wounds.
On Friday evening, Taylen was found dead inside an alligator’s mouth in Dell Holmes Park – around 10 miles from his mother’s home. Officers confirmed it was the little boy after killing the animal. A medical examiner is determining his cause of death.
‘We didn’t want to find him this way, but at least we can bring some closure to that family now,’ Police Chief Anthony Holloway said. ‘We are sorry it has had to end this way.’

Family members saw the mother and son on Wednesday around 5.30pm and asked for a welfare check the following day after they were unable to contact her. An employee found her dead and the crime scene was described as ‘very violent’
Police announced he was a ‘person of interest’ after locating him in hopes of finding Taylen, who was not in his custody at the time.
Thomas had checked himself into hospital and was said to be covered in cuts on his arms and hands, according to NBC News. As of Friday, he remains in the hospital, the police chief said.
Thomas did not speak with investigators. Holloway said: ‘The father is not talking to us.’
Family members saw the mother and son on Wednesday around 5.30pm and asked for a welfare check the following day after they were unable to contact her.
Neighbors said they heard a loud commotion near the apartment around 8.30 that night, but police were not called. Shortly after the commotion at the apartment, Thomas showed up at his mother’s house covered in cuts.

Taylen had just celebrated his second birthday 19 days before being found dead. The little boy’s family called him Tay-Tay and said he loved PB&J and calling his mom when she took her break at work
The next morning, Pashun’s mother called the apartment manager for a welfare check after her daughter missed their daily FaceTime call and an employee found her dead. Holloway described the crime scene as ‘very violent.’
The apartment door was locked when the employee arrived.
Pashun, who worked at CVS, and Taylen had recently moved into the apartment, according to WGXA.
Taylen had just celebrated his second birthday 19 days before being found dead.
The little boy’s family called him Tay-Tay and said he loved PB&J and calling his mom when she took her break at work, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
