Bloke, 22, killed by angry mob after claims he raped 100-year-old woman

A 22-year-old man has died after being attacked by angry villagers after they suspected him of molesting a 100-year-old woman, according to reports.

Pius Mwireri bled to death after sustaining serious injuries from the angry mob in Karundori village in Runyenjes, Embu County, Kenya, police said.

The suspect, a university student, reportedly stormed the woman’s compound and began raping her as she slept.

She raised the alarm and members of the public ran to her aid.

"The angry members of the responded by grabbing the suspect and subjected [him] to mob justice," reported Kenya Music.

The incident was filed to the police by two locals who raced to the scene, the site also stated.

Embu East Police Commander Emmanuel Okanda urged people on Tuesday, July 19, not to take the law into their own hands.

He also said investigations are underway into the incident and added that the body of the deceased was taken to Kyeni hospital mortuary and is awaiting a postmortem examination.

The grandmother was reportedly rushed to the same facility for a check up after the incident.

She is recovering at home now, according to reports.

In a neighbouring county in 2018, a man raped his mum’s two goats to death in a sickening two-hour attack.

Mbithi Munyao, 35, dragged the unfortunate animals from where they were grazing in the Kenyan bush to attack them.

The terrified, bleating animals died of exhaustion as soon as he finished the vile attack, police have said.

The animals' bodies were presented as evidence before a shocked courtroom in Kangundo, in Kenya's Machakos County.

Munyao was arrested after his mother reported him to the authorities, Deccan Chronicle reported at the time.

According to local officials the man molested the animals in the village of Kinyai, around 50 miles from capital Nairobi.
