Andrew Tate is facing a further 30 days locked in a Romanian jail cell.

A judge has granted a request from prosecutors to extend his time in detention.

The former professional kickboxer and social media personality, 36, was arrested in Bucharest on December 29 on suspicion of human trafficking, rape and being part of an organised crime gang.

His brother Tristan and two Romanian women were also detained by police.

Yesterday (Thursday, January 19) prosecutors requested a second 30-day extension to keep all four in detention while investigations continue, according to Ramona Bolla, a spokeswoman from Romania’s anti-organised crime agency Diicot.

That request was granted today (Friday, January 20).

All four arrestees lost an appeal last week when they tried to overturn the initial decision to extend their detention for 30 days.

This latest news comes after Romanian authorities impounded the Tate brothers' supercar collection, which is estimated to be worth around £6million.

Images emerged over the weekend of the cars – including a £310,000 Rolls Royce, a £410,000 McLaren, a Lamborghini, an Aston Martin, three Porsche, two BMWs, two Ferraris and five Mercedes – being loaded onto tow trucks and taken away.

Some of the vehicles were spotted with the personalised licence plate "T8" in the images.

Images from their arrest following a raid on their luxury property in Bucharest also caught the eye on social media, with both brothers spotted making a peculiar hand signal.

Some people guessed it was linked to tweets from Andrew's account saying "the Matrix sent their agents".

The hand signal is actually Uttarabodhi Mudra – a yogic position representing enlightenment.

Uttarabodhi is a Sanskrit word comprised of two words – Uttara meaning 'upwards' and Bodhi meaning 'towards awakening'. Hence, it coincides aptly with Tate's conspiratorial mantra of "escaping the Matrix".
