AEW wrestler and former WWE star Cash Wheeler has been arrested for "aggravated assault with a firearm" just days before he was due to wrestle at a sold-out show at London's Wembley Stadium.

The wrestler, whose real name is Daniel Wheeler, was arrested this morning (Friday, August 18) by the Orlando Police Department after the incident on July 27.

Wheeler was booked in Circuit Court following his arrest and in his arraignment earlier today, his attorney said Wheeler had turned himself in.

The state, prosecuting, said it had been a "road rage-typed incident" where Wheeler, who has no prior record, "flashed a hand gun at the alleged victim".

A judge granted a $2,500 (£1,960) bond and told Wheeler not to contact the alleged victim, who he doesn't know, or any witnesses who saw the incident.

He was also banned from having weapons, and was ordered to turn in any weapons he does have to the Sheriff's Department within 12 hours, pending the outcome of his case.

AEW said they are 'closely monitoring the situation'. A statement posted online said: “AEW has been made aware of the charge, and we are closely monitoring the situation. (Wheeler) is fully cooperating with local authorities.”

The 36-year-old's arrest comes just days before the All In pay-per-view event in London, which of course plunges the make up of the lineup into doubt. He, alongside his partner Dax Harwood, are currently AEW Tag Team Champions as FTR.

They’re scheduled to defend the titles against The Young Bucks at the event on August 27.

In the state of Florida, aggravated assault is designated as a third-degree felony, which carries a maximum of five years in prison, a fine amounting to $5,000 (£3,900), and potential probation.

A warrant for Wheeler's arrest was filed on July 28 after the incident happened the day before.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge via his attorney on August 3. Wheeler does not yet have a court date, at the time of writing.

Wheeler spent six of his 18 wrestling years in WWE as part of The Revival before leaving and joining AEW in 2020.
