A car has crashed into a vehicle carrying Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy was travelling through Kyiv when the vehicle he was in was struck by another private car, claimed a spokesperson.
His press secretary Sergii Nykyforov has informed the public via a Facebook post in which revealed that the leader was not seriously injured and has been checked by medical professionals.
Sergii's Facebook post read: "A car collided with a car of the President of Ukraine and escort cars in Kyiv Medics accompanying the head of state, provided the driver of the legkovika emergency assistance and passed the ambulance.
"The president was examined by a doctor, no serious damage was detected.
"All circumstances of the accident will be found out by law enforcement officers."
The driver of the vehicle was given emergency treatment at the scene before being handed over ambulance crews.
Minutes after Nykyforov made his statement, Zelenskiy's office released the video of the night time address that the president gives every day.
Police officials are now investigating the incident in Ukraine's capital.
The incident comes after Zelenskyy vowed to keep storming forward as his troops reached the edge of Russian-held Donbas in a stunning counter-attack.
He said: “We are moving in only one direction – forward and towards victory."
The Ukrainian leader watched a symbolic moment following the success of claiming a former bomb-blitzed town. He vouched: “Our blue-yellow flag is already flying in de-occupied Izyum.
“It will be so in every Ukrainian city and village.”
As Russian troops continue to flee in disarray ahead of a rapid Ukrainian advance, an ex-NATO chief has warned that Vladimir Putin could unleash his nuclear arsenal in desperation.
Rose Gottemoeller, former Deputy Secretary General of NATO, says that as Russia ’s army crumbles, Putin could go to extreme lengths to hang on to his authority.
She said: “I fear that they will strike back now in really unpredictable ways, and ways that may even involve weapons of mass destruction.”
