A two-bedroom flat in London could be yours for £275,000 – but there's a significant catch.

The property sits above a jeweller's shop in Finchley, North London, and seems unassuming at first.

However, just a quick glance at the images on the listing for 77B Ballards Lane on Auction House London reveals the flat's nefarious past.

Apart from the kitchen and the bathroom, the entire property has been converted to grow marijuana.

Reflective sheets, wires, extractor fans and plant pots still litter the rooms where cannabis was once cultivated. The windows also appear taped over.

Surprisingly, the listing makes no secret of the flat's criminal past. Its description reads: "The property comprises a second floor two bedroom flat situated within a mixed use building arranged over ground and two upper floors.

"The property has been recently used to grow cannabis and requires a program of refurbishment."

Regarding location, it states: "The property is situated on a residential road close to local shops and amenities. The open spaces of Victoria Park are within easy reach.

"Transport links are provided by Finchley underground station (Northern line)."

A representative from Auction House London told The Independent cleaning the property was "not the auction house's responsibility".

The spokesperson said: "We believe in giving our buyers all the information they need to make an informed decision, and it is important to provide a fair representation of the property in its current form.

"We pride ourselves on transparency and honesty in all our dealings and maintain our high standards, even with properties that may have a controversial past."

A representative from the auction firm told the Jewish Chronicle the flat had "previously been used as a cannabis farm".

They added: "There is interest on that perspective, but it is priced quite effectively for the area, so there has been decent interest.

"A client of ours decided an auction was the best way to dispose of the property. As long as the price is right, people will buy it."

The flat will be for sale by public auction on March 15, with £275,000 as the guide price.
