A mum says her daughter was devastated after school staff took scissors to her false eyelashes and left her a laughing stock among pals.
Martina Cantor says she was furious at the treatment of daughter Rhenne, 15.
The mum claims there was no rules against wearing fake lashes and her daughter had deliberately gone for shorter ones that weren’t much longer than her real ones.

Martina said: “The teachers didn’t notify me they were unhappy, or ask Rhenne to get them out when she got home – they just butchered them and did a total bodge job leaving them all completely different lengths.
“It was too close to her eyelid on one. The middle had a big chunk taken out.
“The false ones hadn’t even been long at all – she tried compromising and wore the shorter ones that aren’t much longer than her real lashes because unfortunately they are very minimal anyway.
“So she relies on the false ones. But because they had a curl on the end I think the teacher noticed them more.
“Rhenne is at an age where she’s trying to find herself, and she and her friends experiment with them – it’s a new trend. Other girls have worn them to school, but nothing’s happened.
“But when she got to school her pastoral leader – who’s meant to also be the one who looks after mental health – took her off to the hub teacher.
“Afterwards, one of her friends said ‘What’s happened to your lashes?’ She got laughed at by her friends and was embarrassed. It’s now effected her confidence.
“I wasn’t aware of any specific policy that you can’t wear false eyelashes from what I have read about rules.”
After hearing about the incident mum-of-three Martina, 37, went to the school and asked to see the Principal, the safeguarding team person and the hub teacher at the Harris Academy secondary school in from Beckenham, south-east London.
Martina said: “They said they were investigating, and they must have spoken to the teachers involved.

“Then on Friday I went in again and the safeguarding leader said what they did was unacceptable and they apologised for letting us down. The local authority has also been informed.
“They said they’ve begun the internal disciplinary procedure investigation which they can’t go into.”
Martina added that the false eyelashes were glued on and so couldn’t be easily pulled out, but if the teachers hadn’t liked them they could have asked Rhenne to get them off with make-up oil or baby oil.
A Bromley Council spokesperson said: “We have been made aware of an allegation from a parent to a Bromley school and we are currently looking into this. It would not be appropriate to comment further at this point.“
The school has been contacted for comment but has not responded.
