Putin was the first world leader to congratulate Charles III on becoming King

Mad Vlad was the first of world leaders to congratulate Charles III on becoming King following the new monarch's accession ceremony on Saturday morning.

From the Russian embassy Twitter account, Putin wrote: “I wish you courage and perseverance in the face of this heavy, irreparable loss. I ask you to convey the words of sincere sympathy and support to the members of the royal family and all the people of Great Britain.”

After the Queen's death on September 8, a Russian spokesman from the Kremlin, ambassador Andrei Kelin, posted on Twitter his condolences to King Charles III.

He mentioned the admiration Russia had for the Queen and stated that the Russian people had “great respect” for Queen Elizabeth II, and spoke of her qualities of “wisdom and authority”.

Putin also paid his respects to Charles III after the passing of his mother.

"Your Majesty, Please accept our deepest condolences on the passing of Queen Elizabeth," he said.

"The most important events in the recent history of the United Kingdom are inextricably linked with the name of Her Majesty. For many decades, Elizabeth II rightfully enjoyed the love and respect of her subjects, as well as authority on the world stage.

"I wish you courage and perseverance in the face of this heavy, irreparable loss. I ask you to convey the words of sincere sympathy and support to the members of the royal family and all the people of Great Britain.

"Sincerely, Vladimir Putin."

The well-wishes come after Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II sadly passed away on September 8.

With poor relations between Britain and Russia and rising tensions over the war in Ukraine, Charles III and Putin have been at odds with each other.

Earlier this year, Charles III spoke out against the Russian invasion of Ukraine and said the values of democracy were under attack in the "most unconscionable way".

He also likened it to "nazi aggression" during his royal tour of Canada.
