Meghan Markle, 40, was disliked by other royals quite simply because she was often more intelligent than them, a royal expert claimed, as another said the Duchess often found herself at odds with people around her.
Royal expert Sean Smith, author of Meghan Misunderstood, said that when Meghan walked into a room "she was the most intelligent person in it".
He says this had led to her being "disliked" during her time as a royal.

Sean tweeted in August last year: "A columnist being rude about #PrinceHarry's school exams reminded me that when researching Meghan Misunderstood I was told a reason Meghan was so disliked by the Royal Family and their courtiers was that whenever she walked into a room, she was the most intelligent person in it."
And a new biography of royal life would seem to corroborate those comments, as Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsor's by Tom Bower states that Meghan often finds herself in conflict with people "time and time again".
The biography claims Meghan Markle would be at odds with everyone from other members of The Firm to press teams at Vogue.
Speaking to Vanity Fair in January 2019, a source previously revealed Meghan is "insanely smart".
They said: "Meghan’s goal was always becoming a household name.
"She’s insanely smart and poised but very, very guarded."

Oprah Winfrey previously claimed that Meghan was "advised to be half herself" shortly after joining the Royal Family.
The talk show host, who interviewed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in 2021, revealed that Meghan confided in her in 2018 about the alleged comment on keeping a lower profile.
And a common thread throughout Bower's book is that conflict seemed to follow the Duchess of Sussex everywhere she went.
Perhaps the Firm were rattled at her because Meghan saw her royal connections as an extension of her celebrity, according to another royal expert.
Nicole Lampert, the former Daily Mail Showbiz editor, wrote for Newsweek, saying: "It is clear that Meghan appears to see the royal family as an extension of celebrity, while in reality, she and her husband have earned millions from Netflix and Spotify for doing nothing, simply by being extensions of the royal family."
