A STRANGE city where all its residents live in the same building has its own post office, church and even a police station.
All 272 residents of the remote city of Whittier located at the top of the Passage Canal in Alaska live in the same 14- floor tower block.
The building, called Begich Towers, has everything a town would have, including a church, a post office, a market, a clinic, a police station and a school.
The only way in and out of the sleepy town is a single-lane tunnel that is more than two miles long and cars can only drive in either direction once an hour.
The tunnel remains closed at night so the town, which has been dubbed "The weirdest city in Alaska," is completely off the grid until the next morning.
Dave Dickerson and his wife Anna told CBS Sunday Morning: "People think it’s weird."

"If I had one word, I would say it’s magical," Anna said.
She added: "I feel like it's made us better people. Because it doesn't matter where you came from, how much money you have, you know, we're all just here in this town trying to make it work."
The city has a school located directly behind the tower, connected by an underground tunnel.
The city's teacher Erika Thompson previously told Far Out magazine: "I think what people don’t realise is that it’s just like an apartment building.

"Or it’s just like a high-rise condo in a large city. So, for me, it’s not that strange.
"That’s where I grew up—I grew up in a big city everybody lived in an apartment building… but not the entire town."
Another resident Lee Shuford told CBS News, when asked what people should know about Whittier: "I just want them to know it's just a unique, beautiful place in its own way.
"Before you judge the town of Whittier, you need to come visit it first."
Tiktoker Jenessa started sharing clips of life in Whittier and got a lot of questions from people who wanted to find out more about the strange town.
She told CBS: "I think the weirdest question that I got was like, 'Is it a cult?'"
"It's like, no, it's not! I got so many comments on my TikTok saying, 'It looks sad. It looks depressing.'
"The community here, it's so nice that you don't really ever feel sad. And you always have someone to talk to."
The "town under one roof" was developed by the US Army during Wold War 2 and was used as a military harbour and logistics base.
