AN AUSSIE living in the UK has revealed that she's terrified by "big meaty" British house spiders and even claimed they are worse than their infamous equivalents Down Under.

Charli Blackbarrow, 19, who moved from Melbourne to work as an au pair, took to TikTok to share her horror as she's bombarded with eight-legged visitors daily.

She described the beasts as "Australian spiders on steroids" as she shared a video of her taking one on with the vacuum on 23 August.

Apparently, things have got so bad that she said she would consider leaving the UK if the critters keep finding their way into her home and admitted to wanting to "kiss the next Huntsman spider" she sees.

The Huntsman spider is variety of creepy crawly that is native to Australia and is famous for its size and speed.

Charli says that her first six months of the UK were undisturbed by spiders, but since she moved to a cottage near Winchester, things have gone from bad to worse.

"They’re not normal daddy long legs ones, they’re like big meaty giant ones. I probably see at least two every day," she says.

"If they're small I'll just squash them or I'll spray them with bug spray.  I’m too scared of the big ones so I suck them up in the hoover or try and trap them and put them outside.

Comparing them to the spiders of her homeland, she said that while there are more venomous spiders in Australia, the largely harmless ones here are a lot bigger and scarier.

"I wasn’t scared of spiders when I was back in Australia but for some reason I genuinely feel like crying when I see them here.

"I'm not sure if it’s because I live alone but they just creep me out so much."

She added that Aussie spiders tend to stay outdoors, while British ones find their way into her home and "just sit next to your fridge or above your head when you're sleeping."

This comes as Brits have reported a surge in sightings of super-spiders in their homes.

Experts say this is because the critters come indoors as temperatures drop around the first weeks of September in order to mate.

Self-proclaimed "bug man" Richard Jones told BBC Newsbeat about spider habits last year.

Fortunately for those afraid by the increasing presence of spiders indoors, those in this country aren't a danger to humans

Venomous spiders are rare in the UK and Jones insists that most spiders here can't even bite humans due to the size of their jaws, comparing it to a person trying to bite a basketball.

However, if you simply can't stomach the idea of spiders in your home, there are a number of natural deterrents that can prevent them entering.
