Harry and William’s exchange just before Queen’s committal spotted by lip reader

Prince Harry and his brother Prince William had an exchange about the Queen's funeral seating moments before her committal at Windsor Castle, a lip reading expert has revealed.

The Prince of Wales made a gesture to his wife Kate Middleton to give the seats to both Harry and his wife Meghan Markle inside St George's Chapel, where the Queen's final journey ended.

As they followed the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards and walked past the catafalque, William led his two children – George, nine, and Charlotte, seven – to the front pew to take their seats.

Harry approached the row and, as lip reader Jacqui Press told Daily Mail, was spotted asking William: "Shall we go through first?"

The heir to the throne was seen holding up George and Charlotte, before stopping Kate from going to the seats.

Lip-reading expert Jeremy Freeman then told Daily Star what William said to his wife while holding her back.

William was thought to have told her: "Let them go first."

Kate then looked up at Meghan and took a step back, opening up the space to give way for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

William gestured to the group as Kate tapped on Charlotte's back and said: "You go now."

During the service, Charles could be seen getting emotional as he stepped out to place the Queen's Company Camp Colour on the coffin.

And he fought back tears when Lord Chamberlain broke his wand of office – signalling the end of Queen Elizabeth II's reign.

The funeral service ended as the coffin lowered into the vault beneath St George's Chapel.

Members of the Royal Family left the chapel and returned to Windsor Castle to rest and at 7.30pm, the family will conduct a private burial.
