Harry and Meghan will be ‘seated in Iceland’ at King’s coronation, says source

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to get the "cold shoulder" from some royal relatives at King Charles' coronation in May, according to insiders.

With less than two months to go until King Charles III is crowned at Westminster Abbey, Harry and Meghan still haven’t confirmed whether they will be attending the ceremony or not.

But if they do go, it might not be a warm reception for them according to a family source, who claims that many senior royals "don't want to socialise with them".

The source told the Mail: “They will be given the cold shoulder by very many relatives. One said to me, ‘I hope they’ll be seated in Iceland’.

“Many of the family just want nothing more to do with them. If they have to see them at the coronation then so be it, but they do not want to socialise with them.”

It comes as Dr Ed Owens, a royal historian, commentator and author, said Palace staff will organise the coronation in an "extraordinarily careful" manner to avoid any awkward moments if the couple do make it.

And that rules out any last minute requests from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for special treatment, he told the Express.

"Harry and Meghan will have no control over how this event plays out, the Royal Household will have complete control over this event," he said.

"The rehearsal schedule will be extremely intense," he explained.

"Everything will be organised down to the second in terms of how the event is meant to unfold, in terms of the role of the different performers.

"If Harry and Meghan are present on the day, they are going to be minor figures at the fringe of this event."

The tight control over the day’s events will apply to TV and radio networks too, he said. The Palace will be able to "control what images broadcasters can share with the public”.
