A dog was left with over 800 strings after a homeowner tried to remove a massive beehive.
After watching one or two instructional videos about bees on YouTube Tommy Baker, from Lake Mathews in California, thought he could probably remove the hive himself.
But things quickly got out of hand and a swarm of angry bees emerged from the hive. A video shot by Tommy shows some of the dramatic attack.

"We were getting ready to replace our fence here and the fence guy came out took a look at it and we noticed we had a bee hive,” Tommy explained.
But when he tried to move it, things got “very intense,” he told ABC7 News..
“It got to the point I could not see very far in front of me there were so many bees just swirling around".
He hopped into his golf cart in a bed to get away from the swarm, but the insects made a bee-line for him.
"They followed me all the way around the block and this is a big block up here – it’s probably a mile," Tommy said.

As the golf cart and bee parade passed by the home of Tommy’s neighbour, Bryan Engen, some of the insects attacked him instead.
"I looked out back and it just looked like a cloud, a dark cloud moving across my backyard," Bryan said.
Bryan’s dog Chance was also attacked and the pit bull / mastiff cross was left with over 800 stings on one side of his body alone.

Bryan’s wife Brittany rushed her dog to the vet. “He is still recovering and we don’t know if he will make it,” she wrote in a GoFundMe post. Vet bills are crazy and we are hoping he will pull through."
Vets had to give Chance a blood transfusion, and he slowly showed signs of recovery.
“He’s wagging his tail and he’s much more alert,” Brittany wrote. “He’s still not out of the woods. Doctors are monitoring him closely and checking his blood to see if a second transfusion will be needed."

A massive response on GoFundme saw the total rise to match Brittany’s $10,000 goal and she’s closed the fundraiser for now.
“I wanted to come here and make a general statement to you all about how appreciative and thankful we are for your donations, prayers and endless support,” she explained.
“As any animal lover knows, they aren’t just animals, they are family. Your support and donations have made it feasible to continue care on our furry family member. 10,000 thank-yous to you all and to our incredible friends who started this movement to help with the expenses”
