Deadly drug-laced banknotes that ‘could kill with one dose’ left on the street

Banknotes that were laced with drugs, which could kill with one dose, were found on the floor of a petrol station.

The Perry County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee recently found two folded up paper bills that contained a white, powdery substance.

Upon tests, officers found out that the unknown substance tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl, both class A drugs.

The sheriff posted a picture of the scary discovery online as he stated: “This is very dangerous, folks! Please share and educate your children to not pick up the money.

“I personally plan to push for legislation for a bill that would intensify the punishment, if someone is caught using money as a carrying pouch for such poison.”

He added: “It enrages me as a father and the sheriff, that people can act so carelessly and have no regard for others wellbeing, especially a child. I hope we find the ones responsible.”

The rising surge of fentanyl finding its way into America has only added to the opioid crisis that the country continues to fight.

Nationwide seizures of the drug has become routine as last July, DEA agents seized about 1million fake pills containing fentanyl in Los Angeles, which counted as the largest ever drug seizure in California’s history.

Just last month, over 50.6million fentanyl pills and more than 10,000 pounds of fentanyl powder were seized by the organisation whose laboratory calculated that the seizures represent more than 379million potentially deadly doses of the substance, which would be enough to kill every American in the country.

The sheer spread of Fentanyl and its addictiveness has meant that its become the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18–45.
