Crazy Maui wildfire conspiracy claims ‘space lasers’ unleashed killer inferno

A bizarre conspiracy theory has erupted surrounding wildfires in Maui, which claim they were started by space lasers.

Wild claims online say lasers were fired from space to start the fires that have gutted swaths of the island and claimed the lives of over 100 people.

Other crazy speculations surrounding the fires include land grab claims regarding celebrities or the US government and suspicious accusations that trees were standing amid the rubble.

Wild claims about “direct energy weapons” are being rolled out by people online to claim that the fires on the Hawaiian island were started on purpose.

The cause of the destruction of seaside town Lahaina remains unknown by officials, but theories surrounding these conspiracy claims have been debunked – yet still they spread online.

It is known that the ideal conditions for a fire spreading were created by dry conditions, low humidity and strong winds caused by a pressure imbalance from a nearby hurricane.

Claims that downed power lines sparked the blaze has led to a lawsuit being filed.

But despite the horror, the loss of life and a complete lack of evidence, some are still trying to claim that sinister human intervention is to blame.

One video, posted on Instagram, captioned “PAY ATTENTION!!!!!!! NOT WILDFIRES” makes the outlandish claim about the “direct energy weapon assault”.

But images used in the footage have already been debunked by people who found original pictures of a SpaceX launch from 2018, which appears to have been lifted from the site and edited to look like a laser hitting the Earth.

The narrator of the video shamelessly says in the clip that it “shows a laser beam coming out of the sky directly targeting the city.”

He also makes claims about flammable chemicals being sprayed into the sky in a weather modification programme.

That was accompanied by an image too, however, that has been found to also be from 2018 at a Marathon Oil refinery in Canton, Ohio.

Others have even claimed some trees still standing amounts to evidence of conspiracy with one claiming on X: “Everything is burnt but the trees, but don’t point that out or ur a conspiracy theorist (sic).”

Someone was quick to send a link to Britannica that said: “Some plants are able to survive wildfires due to a layer of thermal insulation provided by their bark, dead leaves, or moist tissues”.

Others have wildly claimed that wealthy private interests like Blackrock or Maui property owners Oprah and Jeff Bezos were behind mass real estate arson.

While some bizarrely claimed indigenous people were driven out in a bid to create an AI-run city, theDaily Mailreports.
