Cop fired for sex with colleagues ‘nearly killed herself’ over ‘grooming’ claims

A former police officer fired for having sexual interactions with multiple colleagues has claimed she was the victim of manipulation and "nearly killed herself".

Maegan Hall said she had felt exploited and trapped in her job, having previously blamed her troubled marriage on the affairs.

The former officer of the La Vergne Police Department, 26, has claimed in a 51-page federal complaint she was “sexually groomed” by her department superiors.

Hall was fired in January of this year after news and information about her actions became public.

Five other officers were also removed from the force in relation to the case.

Filed on Monday (February 27), the lawsuit claims “predators” in the department “colluded” to “entrap” Hall.

It said: “Where Ms Hall sought role models at her new job, she instead found predators.

“In place of offering professional development, her supervisors and the chief of police groomed her for sexual exploitation.

“They colluded in using their authority to systematically disarm her resistance and entrap her in degrading and abusive sexual relationships, even sharing tips on the best ways to manipulate and exploit her.”

It went on to claim Hall felt “trapped” and “in an attempt to escape, she nearly killed herself”.

An internal investigation would go on to see Hall admit to performing sex acts while on duty and on police property.

She also admits she and another officer had a threesome with his wife.

Joining up for the force at the age of 24, Hall says she “got stupid” and “got desperate” as she entered into sexual relations with officers.

Last year she became involved with Sergeant Lewis Powell.

Her lawsuit adds: “Sergeant Powell learned that Ms Hall was going through the process of buying a home with her husband and that this process was extremely taxing on their relationship.

“Sergeant Powell positioned himself as a reliable source of companionship and advice regarding Ms Hall’s career and her marriage.”

It continued: “Sergeant Powell persisted in requests for sex despite Ms Hall’s resistance.

“Eventually, Ms Hall gave in to Sergeant Powell’s requests for sexual favours.”

The lawsuit goes on to allege that when Hall tried to break the “exploitative sexual relationship” off with Powell, he threatened to kill himself.

She claims her relationship with Powell led to more relationships with different officers – Larry Holladay, Patrick Magliocco, Ty McGowan, Juan Lugo-Perez, Gavin Schoeberl and Detective Seneca Shields.

Powell, Lugo-Perez, McGowan and Shields have all lost their jobs while the other people named were suspended.

La Vergne Police Chief Burrel “Chip” Davis has now also been sacked – Hall claims he “encouraged this behaviour and shared in the pornography and sexual fantasy of mutually abusing Ms Hall with his trusted supervisor, Ty McGowan”.

The suit seeks a non-disclosed amount of money for various harms caused to Hall including lost wages, “reputational harm” and mental suffering.
