The plane-goers had sustained a plethora of injuries, including serious head injuries, cuts, bruises, with some even losing consciousness.

Emergency services were notified of the incident as they responded to the 'mass casualty emergency' that had taken place at 11am.

The likes of firefighters, ambulance crews, and the state Aircraft Rescue Firefighting Team were among the services first responding to the scene.

20 passengers were transported to the emergency room, with 11 of them in serious condition while the remaining nine are in stable condition.

According to the National Weather Service, they suggest that the turbulence could have been caused due to the plane passing through a thunderstorm.
