Woman pays £600 for ‘French bulldog’ – only for it to grow into something else

When purchasing a new pet on sites like Gumtree, it's probably best to make sure you're definitely getting what you paid for. If the price seems too good to be true then it probably is.

But one woman seems to have learned her lesson and has even started breeding dogs herself since she made a shocking purchase online. Bethany Cupples instantly fell in love with little puppy Luna when she spotted her online and there was no question she was going to buy her.

The woman, from Huddersfield in West Yorkshire, had thought she was purchasing a purebred 'Frenchie' from the advert she saw on Gumtree. Bethany, who bought the dog as a present for her mum, admitted she was "very surprised" when she first saw the advert as she thought she had found herself a bargain.

French bulldog puppies cost as much as £3,500 in the UK at the time. But the pet turned out to be a completely different breed to the one she'd bargained for.

She claims she knew something wasn't quite right when she went to collect the puppy in May 2020, when she was only five weeks old, but put it to the back of her mind. But she soon realised she'd forked out £600 on what she thought was a French Bulldog but it grew into something very different.

In a video, which gained more than 3.3million views on TikTok, Bethany showed images of what Luna looked like as a puppy compared to when fully grown. Bethany wrote: "We bought a puppy for £600, a 'pure bred Frenchie' from Gumtree and this is what she turned into…"

Luna had much longer hair than a normal French bulldog and she also had a tiled snout. A trip to the vet revealed that the dog was actually a "Frorkie" — a cross-breed of a French bulldog and a Yorkshire Terrier.

However, the dog owners seems to have learned her lesson and has since managed to add some actual Frenchie pups to the family. She took to the social media app to show fans how well they are growing as she has started breeding them herself.

In the clip, which has gained more than 400 likes, she filmed herself holding the pups in the mirror each week from two weeks old to eight weeks. She declared that one even found it's forever home before she could finish the clip. Beth wrote in the caption: "Love watching them grow."
