When does it start getting lighter?
After December 21, the days will get longer by an average of two minutes and seven seconds every day.
By January 18 an extra hour of daylight will come, and every four weeks thereafter, an hour or so of sunshine should lighten the day up somewhat.
After this, the days will continue to get brighter until the Summer Solstice on June 21, 2021.
When will it be light in the evenings?
Sadly, you will have to wait a month to wait until March 12, for the sun to go down after 6pm.
By March 18 daytime beats nighttime by two minutes.
Two days later it is the Spring equinox.
From this point, each day will be nearly four minutes longer than the day before.
When was the shortest day of the year?
Winter Solstice, which is on the December 21.
When do the clocks go forward?
But it will get much lighter when the clocks go forward in the spring.
This will take place on March 28, 2021.
It will add an extra hour of sunlight.
