Tributes to man, 55, killed after being hit by van outside Cramlington pub as three people charged with murder | The Sun

TRIBUTES have been paid to a 55-year-old man who was killed after being hit by a van outside a Cramlington Pub.

Sheldon Flanighan died after being mowed down at around 10pm on Saturday at the Bay Horse pub in Northumberland.


Another man, also 55, is currently still in hospital after being hit by the van.

Three people earlier arrested have been charged with murder and have also been charged with the attempted murder of the second male.

Cops and emergency services rushed to the pub but Sheldon tragically died at the scene.

Sheldon's family are being supported by specialist officers at this difficult time – as are the family of a second man, who was seriously injured and hospitalised.

Enquiries are ongoing but two men and one woman will appear at Bedlington Magistrates' Court later today.

On Monday morning, floral tributes could be seen outside the pub, some displaying heartfelt messages and expressing condolences to his loved ones.

One tribute read: "Top man. Thoughts go out to you all."

Another said: "Our thoughts are with you and your family. RIP."

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector, Dave Johnson, of Northumbria Police said: “Our thoughts remain firmly with the families of everyone affected by this tragic incident and we ask that their privacy is respected while they attempt to come to terms with what has happened.

“We have now charged three people with murder and attempted murder and are working hard to establish exactly what happened in the moments before and after this incident.

“While our enquiries continue, we’d ask that people refrain from any type of speculation or commentary on social media and urge anyone who has information but hasn’t yet come forward to do so.”
