A WOMAN has been hospitalised with serious injuries following a sex attack in a seaside town.
Residents in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, found the victim wandering around "in distress" early Sunday morning.
Cops rushed to the scene on Sidney Street after being alerted by members of the public concerned for the woman's safety.
She was treated for her injuries at hospital and is now being looked after by specially trained officers.
A man has been arrested in connection with the sickening attack, police said.
Following the attack, one terrified female resident told GrimsbyLive: “I live on my own and I don’t want to come out at a night now."

While another man said: "It is a shock to see this right on your doorstep. I woke up and saw it and wondered what had happened."
In a statement, Humberside Police said: "A man has been arrested on suspicion of committing a serious sexual assault following an incident on Sidney Street, Cleethorpes, in the early hours of this morning.
"We attended after a member of the public reported a woman in distress on the street.
"The woman was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries and is being supported by specially trained officers.
