Robert Durst's dad and bro helped him to cover up murder of his missing wife Kathie who vanished in 1982, lawyers claim

ROBERT Durst's father and brother helped him cover up the murder of his missing wife Kathie, lawyers claimed on Monday.

Real estate heir Robert Durst's father and brother have been accused of assisting in the murder of his wife Kathie who went missing in 1982.

These claims arise again as part of Durst's trial in the muder of long time confidant, Susan Berman, which just resumed after a 14 month delay due to the coronavirus.

In 2019, Kathie Durst's sister Carol Bamonte filed a lawsuit accusing the family of "protect[ing] [Robert] Durst and The Durst Organization from any connection to Kathie’s disappearance and murder.”

Prosecutors believe that Durst shot Berman in the back of the head in 2000 after she threatened to give information to the police about Kathie.

He has been in jail since 2015 on these charges.

On Monday, Law and Crime executive producer Cathy Russon tweeted "Attorneys representing Kathleen Durst’s family say #RobertDurst brother Douglas & father Seymore aided in the cover-up of Kathleen’s disappearance and murder."

Kathie went missing from her New York City home in 1982 and her body has never been found.

While authorities believe Durst is responsible for her death, he has never been charged with her murder.

Durst was also accused of killing his neighbor Morris Black while he was in hiding in Texas, but was eventually acquitted on claims of self defense.

The Durst family spoke out about the claims targeting attorney Robert Adams who represents Kathie's family.

“Mr. Abrams is a member of the cottage industry that seeks to personally profit off of Robert’s victims, even if it involves disrupting the prosecution of the murder of Susan Berman,” said Jason Barowitz, a spokesperson for the family.

He continued, "The truth is that the Durst family is appalled by Robert’s actions and has cooperated with authorities to help ensure justice is served. These allegations are false and have been repeatedly debunked.”
