The Powerball jackpot for the Wednesday night drawing has grown to an estimated $700 million, the fifth largest Powerball jackpot in the game’s history.
After 35 drawings in a row with no grand prize winner, Wednesday night’s drawing will have a cash value of $335.7 million, according to Powerball officials.
More than 1.2 million tickets won cash prizes totaling $13.7 million in Monday’s drawing, including one ticket in Texas that matched all five white balls to win $1 million.
Powerball tickets, $2 per play, are sold in 45 states, including Colorado. More than half of all proceeds from the sale of a Powerball ticket remain in the jurisdiction where the ticket was sold, Powerball officials said.
The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
Powerball holds the world record, to date, for the largest jackpot $1.586 billion, set in 2016 and shared by winners in California, Florida and Tennessee.
