Often described as the Saint Tropez of South America, a posh seaside resort in Brazil is a hidden gem.
Buzios, located on a peninsula northeast of Rio de Janeiro was elected one of the 10 most beautiful areas in the world.
The average temperature in December is between 23-29C, so if you are looking for a summer destination to spend your winter vacation, then Buzios is the perfect place.
The former Portuguese fishing village was put on the map in the mid- 1960s by Brigitte Bardot, who hid here with her Brazilian boyfriend, reported Mail Online.
The magnificent seaside resort is known as an upscale vacation destination with numerous beaches.

These include Ferradura, on a calm horseshoe bay with water sports, and Geribá, a popular surfing site.
Among its village streets, cobbled Rua das Pedras is a centre of dining and nightlife.
The main attractions are the array of small, sandy coves dotted around the peninsula, most within walking distance and each with a beached wooden schooner converted into a jaunty cocktail bar.

The popular tourist attraction has received mixed responses on TripAdvisor.
One wrote: “I spent a weekend in Buzios, which was enough to know the place and enjoy its natural beauty. I especially like the Big Blue Water-Park, with its huge pools and water slides that caused a sick feeling in my stomach at every fall.
“The Buzios’s beach is very beautiful, but behind all the beauty, its danger hides. The beach is full of cauldrons, which are strong ocean currents that could cause the death by drowning of some inattentive people who ignored the signs that warn about the places where bathing is prohibited. You can’t let children alone.
“The beach is the place that is worth a visit, either for its beauty or for the children’s fun at the Big Blue Water-Park. But if you want to take a sea bath, you should be very careful to avoid unwanted situations.”
Another said: “Lots of different beaches in Buzios. Some small and quaint, some more busy with walkers taking photos with the famous Bridget Bardot statue, lots of various restaurants too very clean and felt a lot safer here than in Rio and Macae.”
