A nine-year-old boy has been seriously injured after a hit-and-run on a playing field.

Police have launched a huge search after the boy was hit by a motorbike in Hull.

The collision has left the boy with serious and life-changing injuries and has been taken to hospital for treatment.

Police say the topless motorcyclist was riding without a helmet and left the scene after the collision.

A Humberside Police statement read: ‘Police are in attendance at a collision between a motorcycle and a nine-year-old boy.

‘It is reported that a motorbike, being ridden off-road on Rosemead Park near Southcoates Lane in Hull, was in collision with the boy, who was a pedestrian, at around 12 noon today (Monday, May 25). 

The collision has left the boy with serious and life-changing injuries and he has now been taken to hospital for treatment

‘The boy has sustained serious and life-changing injuries in the collision and has been taken to hospital for treatment.

‘The rider of the bike, who was said to be riding without a helmet or shirt, did not stop and left the scene of the collision.

‘A search of the area is being conducted.’

Police and forensic investigation teams were soon on the scene after the boy was hit on Rosmead Street playing field, near Southcoates Lane

Roads Policing Inspector Heather Cawson said: ‘We are urgently trying to find the rider and the bike involved in this collision. I want the help of the public to tell me who was riding this bike and where they are now.

‘The bike was described as a red/orange motorcycle and the rider was not wearing a shirt or a helmet.

‘Anyone with any information should call our 101 number and quote log 171 of 25 May 2020.’
