An eyewitness told us of the shocking moment he saw the knifeman.
Ash said he was walking along Priory Road when he turned a corner and saw a man with a "massive machete."
He said: "We crossed the road and he passed us. About 20 seconds later a younger guy ran towards us with stab wounds to the arm. We then saw him [the knifeman] walk down the street until entering a house.
"I was shocked, you would never expect to come face-to-face with that."
Police have since confirmed a man was arrested following the incident.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "We were called at 5.35pm to Arkles Lane to a report of a man walking towards the junction with Priory Road and onto Ince Avenue, shouting at people and carrying what was described as a machete.
"It was reported he assaulted a number of people, causing some slash wounds, and the victims have attended hospital where they are receiving treatment. None of the victims are believed to have sustained life-threatening injuries.
"The suspect was detained a short time later in Stanley Park."
