A 16-year-old girl beat her own dad to death after she caught him abusing her mum, according to police.
The teen allegedly attacked the 43-year-old man with an iron rod in the Berasia area of Bhopal in India on Wednesday night (October 21).
Officials say the girl had become upset by witnessing her mother be repeatedly attacked by her husband, who was a "habitual drinker" with a violent temper.
The abuse was well-known within the community, with neighbours "mocking" the family's violence.
On Wednesday evening the dad returned home from work and began abusing his wife as usual, and his daughter found she could take it no longer.

She picked up an iron rod and struck him, causing him to fall down. She then proceeded to hit him in the head until he died.
Neighbours contacted the police but the girl surrendered herself before she could be arrested. She was interrogated and is now undergoing counselling and will be sentenced by a juvenile board.
KK Verma, sub-divisional officer of police Berasia, told local media: "During interrogation on Thursday, the girl said her father used to work as a labourer.

"She was upset over the physical torture her mother was subjected to by her father, as she told us."
He added: "On Wednesday evening, the man returned to the house and started abusing his wife.
"The girl couldn't control her anger and attacked him with an iron rod. He fell down. The girl then picked up a stick and continued to hit her father on his head. The man died on the spot.
"Later, neighbours informed the police but the girl herself surrendered before the police."
