Dunkin’ Donuts worker ‘killed rude customer with punch for being racist’

A Dunkin' employee has been accused of killing a 77-year-old customer in Florida, US.

Corey Pujols, 27, told police he punched the "extremely rude" man for repeating a racial slur against him, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

He was arrested on suspicion of aggravated manslaughter after the elderly man died in hospital.

Pujols reportedly told cops that the man had been “extremely rude” the day of the altercation and called him a racial slur.

When he confronted the customer about the slur, the man responded by repeating it, police said.

Pujols then punched the customer in the face, causing the man to fall and hit his head on the concrete floor, authorities said.

Police and fire rescue crews were called to the store about 1.30pm and found a 77-year-old man unconscious and bleeding from the head.

Paramedics took the man to Tampa General Hospital, where he was placed in intensive care.

Authorities initially arrested Pujols on a charge of battery on a person older than 65 at the Dunkin’ store in Marathon on May 4.

The store’s surveillance system captured video of the punch.

The video shows the customer didn’t touch Pujols, and that the man appeared to hit the back of his head on the concrete floor after Pujols punched him, according to the report.
