Donald Trump accuses ‘crazies’ of ‘rigging election’ during strange Easter rant

Former US president Donald Trump accused "Radical Left CRAZIES" or "rigging" the last year's election in a strange rant meant to celebrate Easter.

The 74-year-old Republican, who lost the White House to Democrat Joe Biden in November last year, issued the bizarre statement this weekend to marked the holy festivities.

Writing from his Save America PAC political committee, he said: “Happy Easter to ALL, including the Radical Left CRAZIES who rigged our Presidential Election, and want to destroy our country!”

It followed a longer statement he released a day earlier, which also references "Radical Left CRAZIES" and electoral fraud.

In it, he wrote: “Why is it that every time the 2020 ELECTION FRAUD is discussed, the Fake News Media consistently states that such charges are baseless, unfounded, and unwarranted, etc.?”

“With each passing day, and unfortunately for the Radical Left CRAZIES, more and more facts are coming out.

“Other than that, Happy Easter!”

Trump has long claimed last year's result against him was fraudulent, despite having no evidence to support his assertions.

The allegation was repeatedly thrown out of court after Biden was named as the US's new leader.

Trump lost both the popular vote and the Electoral College – and his lawyers failed to prove allegations of fraud.

US media and political figures was quick to mock the billionaire's rant.

“Jesus couldn’t have said it any better himself,” New York Times journalist Kenneth Vogel tweeted.

“Someone’s bitter today,” wrote Olivia Troye, a former aide to US politician Mike Pence. “The #Easter Bunny must have skipped his house. That’s what happens when you steal from your own supporters.”

Ms Troye is understood to have been referring to allegations the Trump 2020 campaign repeatedly charged unsuspecting donors.
